Learn what your house really needs, and how to save big.

Electrification means moving a home’s systems, space heating, water heating, cooking, and laundry, from fossil fuels like natural gas over to efficient electric equipment. It doesn’t have to happen all at once. Many King City homeowners do it in stages: a heat pump when the furnace needs replacing, a heat pump water heater when the old tank is due, an induction range whenever the kitchen gets updated next.

Why it matters for a city like King City. With most of the city’s housing dating to its original development in the 1960s and 70s, original equipment across many homes is well past its expected service life or already on a second or third replacement. Replacing a dying gas furnace with a heat pump uses up to three times less energy than resistance-based electric heating, and a heat pump water heater uses roughly 70% less energy than a standard electric tank. Planning ahead means choosing the right equipment on your own timeline instead of scrambling after a breakdown.

How we build a plan

  1. Assessment. We look at your current systems, energy use, electrical panel capacity, and where the building envelope is losing energy.
  2. Custom roadmap. You get a written plan laying out upgrade options, sequencing if you’re doing this in stages, estimated savings, and which incentive programs apply to each step.
  3. Implementation. Installation follows building science principles, accounting for ductwork, air leakage, and insulation alongside the equipment itself.

What's typically included

Space heating and cooling through heat pump replacements for furnaces or baseboard heaters, water heating through heat pump water heaters, and building envelope work (insulation, air sealing, and ventilation) planned alongside the equipment changes.

Incentives and rental properties

Electrification incentives are expanding at the state and utility level, and Energy Trust of Oregon incentives apply to many of the individual upgrades involved (heat pumps, water heaters, insulation). State-supported programs through the Oregon Department of Energy sometimes offer reduced-cost heat pump installation for income-qualified homeowners, subject to funding availability. See our incentives page for the current picture.

Why plan this with Resilient Retrofits

We’re a licensed Oregon contractor (CCB #245539) that treats electrification as a sequencing problem, not a single sale. A roadmap built around your actual home holds up better than a single recommendation that ignores the rest of the house.
